Tai Er Suntec Review
太二酸菜鱼 Suntec got a 4.4/5.0 rating out of 199 overall reviews given to customers.
The boiled fish(酸辣鱼) was very fragrant and not too sour, unlike many other places. 辣子鸡 was very addictive as well as it was quite spicy and chicken bites were slightly crispy. The mochi fritters with powdered sugar and brown sugar dip was something I didn't try before and surprisingly good and not too sweet! Down side is that the wait was about an hour on a Thursday evening.
Arrive at about 7pm on Thursday and queued about 30min to get a table.Menu is simple, not extensive, but the taste of the food is good. Sauerkraut fish was good, the peppercorn fragrance quite strong, a bit more numbing than the usual ones I eat at Chinatown area.Like that there is free and free flow floral tea (rosella+dried orange peel), I think it complements the fish.
Finally got to try this!! It is so delicious. Best part is, we didn’t have to queue to get into the restaurant 🙂 酸菜鱼 was very 开胃. The 辣子鸡 tasted quite different as the other ones I’ve tried (in a good way) and the lotus pieces in it definitely added value to the overall texture of the dish. Amazing complementary flower orange peel tea too 🙂
The fish is very fresh but too oily to my liking. I asked the server if they can help to remove the oil but is a no for them, they do not have the service. We also cannot request to reduce oil upon order as it is standard process explained by the server.Salted egg fish skin is light and crispy.Glutinous rice ball and mango dessert is a yes, but need to tell them after meal or you order it later, cos they served it right before the main course. The drink is free and nice! Roselle flower paired with mandarin orange skin.We went on a weekday, it is not crowded, if is weekend, try to reserve a table early or you have to take number and wait for your tablem
Finally can walk in and the waiting time is 10min only.. service is friendly like HDL. 👍🏻.. The spicy cold squid very disappointed. It taste stale and soggy. The mayo prawn damn small portion and the Dan Dan can finish by 2 mouth. ( sorry I’m a big size person). Slice beef is really tender but my mom say is the soda powder that make it the meat softer. 😳. The fish slice still able to taste the strong mud. 😢. Don’t think will come back again. FYI bill was like $240. 2x order was Dan Dan noodle and mayo prawn the rest was as per photo below.
Tai Er Jem Review
太二酸菜鱼 Jem got a 4.3/5.0 rating out of 193 overall reviews given to customers.
The food here is so good that it makes us 太饿 (pun intended) 了. Been hearing lots of good reviews about the 酸菜鱼 here that my family and I must try this for ourselves. Ever since then, I have cravings for this every now and then.Every dish is very well prepared and there wasn't one that we didn't like. If I have to pick a favourite, it would be either the 酸菜鱼 or 水煮牛肉. And we love how they have the free hawthorn tea that we could get for ourselves which helps to cleanse our palette during the meal.Would definitely recommend for everyone to try, esp if you are into chinese/sichuan food. Great food, great service, you are in good hands 🙌🏻
The food was amazing! The food portions were super generous. We ordered 酸菜鱼 and 水煮牛肉。Both the fish and beef were so tender that they melt in your mouth. Great service as well. They provide free flow flower tea. We tried the花椒奶茶,interesting taste with the 花椒,and red bean bubbles. It was full house during lunch so please make reservations before heading down.
Finally an outlet in the west!! The crowd on a Thursday night was crazy - thankfully we arrived slightly before 6pm and didn’t need to wait long.Apparently reservations can be made in advance too!Service was good and overall no complains. The tea station was my fav as you get to customise your own tea 🍵Tried the signature famous sour fish and had hoped for it to be spicier…! There are also a number of sides in the menu and I would probably try those if I were to return again.
Westies rejoice! If you're a fan of spicy and sour stuff, check out Tai Er's FIRST-ever outlet in the West at JEM @jemsingapore! It goes without saying that their signature 老坛子酸菜鱼 (aka Sauerkraut Fish) is the must-order dish here. Prepare to be wowed by how the dish is loaded with Sichuan peppercorns, dried chillies, sauerkraut & filleted tilapia slices, with chrysanthemum petals sprinkled atop ala salt bae style! (and maybe some 2nd hand embarrassment when the server shouted their iconic '比鱼好吃的酸菜来咯!' slogan😆) The tilapia slices have a silky & velvety texture, and we love that there are no bones. Also, BB cannot emphasise how much we enjoyed their broth -piquant & zesty with the right balance of sour tang and spiciness! Perfect with lots of rice (apparently cooked with mineral water, a bit 小 atas lol)~ 🐟Try their Sichuan Chicken in Red Oil Sauce (口水雞) too! The poached shredded chicken was tender and smothered in aromatic chilli oil. Personally felt that the spiciness level could be higher! BB was also impressed with the Egg Coated Glutinous Rice Rolls with Brown Sugar (蛋酥软糍粑)! The egg batter added a delicate crisp that contrasted against the softer, chewier glutinous rice roll coated within. Tastes even better when dipped into the brown sugar syrup! .📍 Address: 50 Jurong Gateway Rd, #B1-04 JEM, Singapore 608549, JEM outlet accepts walk-ins.
Super love their signature Suancai & Fish - spicy and sour tender fish that is crazy addictive. Once you start, it is really hard to stop. I can easily finish 2 bowls of rice with this 🍚The Seaweed Roll with Salted Egg Yolk, a Singapore Exclusive is a worthy mention also. The seaweed roll is light and the salted egg yolk sauce flavour is not too heavy 🐣I'm a big fan of glutinous rice so I really like the Egg Coated Glutinous Rice Rolls With Brown Sugar. The egg gives a nice crisp to the soft glutinous rice rolls while the brown sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness to it ❤️
